THE CONSTRUCTION GLASSFIBRE MANUFACTURES ASSOCIATION

FIND OUT A LITTLE MORE ABOUT US

The use of prefabricated GRP building components has grown rapidly within the new house building sector due to their speed of construction, durability and consistent quality.

However, it was recognised within the industry in discussion with and under the close guidance of the NHBC (one of the leading underwriters for the new house building industry) that the formation of a single industry body to represent manufacturers would lead to improved quality and professionalism within this important component supplier to the sector.

The Construction Glass Fibre Manufacturers Association (CGFMA) was set up in 2012 following 2 years of discussions with the NHBC on how best the industry could achieve and maintain the standards they require for NHBC insurance purposes. This resulted in the formation of a dynamic trade association which now has over 20 members who are all fully certificated, having passed the NHBC approved independent test regime. This is backed up by independent external annual audits and a robust reporting procedure.

As well as satisfying the requirements of the NHBC, chimney units manufactured by CGFMA certificated members are now also approved for use on Local Authority Building Control (LABC) sites following Premier Guarantee’s acceptance of the approved, independent test regime.

Using tested products supplied by CGFMA certificated members gives confidence to developers, builders, homeowners and underwriters, thus ensuring consistent quality and the highest standards. It is the CGMFA’s objective to provide an open forum for discussion on non-competitive issues such as setting, monitoring and maintaining the highest standards of manufacture for the construction industry.
